Beijing Olympics bronze medallist boxer Vijender ' title=' Vijender '>Vijender Singh was on Thursday adjudged the Sportsperson of the Year by the Delhi Sports Journalists Association (DSJA), which celebrated its annual awards function here.
Veteran wrestling coach Mahabali Satpal was given the Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to the sport.
Junior Indian hockey team coach Harendra Singh was presented the Coach of the Year award for guiding the country to a World Cup win after 15 years.
Promising cricketer Rishabh Pant was given the Emerging Player of the Year award for his exploits in the domestic circuit this season.

Many former journalists were awarded for their contribution in the field of sports, namely Harpal Singh Bedi, Roshan Sethi, Veturi Srivatsa, Kewal Kaushik, K.Datta, Jagannath Rao, K.P. Mohan, S. Santana, Ashutosh Rai, Manoj Chaturvedi, Kuldip Lal, Arun Jain, Kuldip Rathore and Suresh Kaushik.
