1,336 fined on New Year eve in Delhi, 26 caught for drink-driving Last Updated : 01 Jan 2021 12:33:02 PM IST Delhi Police On the eve of New year a total of 1,336 people were fined by the Delhi Traffic Police, out of which 26 persons were charged for drink-driving in various parts of Delhi.
According to the Delhi Police, 221 vehicles were towed away and 174 people were caught for dangerous driving. A total of 70 vehicles were fined for unauthorised parking in the national capital in intervening night of December 31 and January 1.Joint Commissioner Police Traffic, Manish K. Agrawal said, "The campaign and appeal made by the media had a very good effect and citizens of Delhi exhibited very restrained behaviour on the roads. This year the traffic congestion and violations noted were much less."S.N. Shrivastava, Delhi Police Commissioner also interacted with the staff on duty at the Dhaula Kuan picket, Chanakyapuri police station to understand their problems while working in chilling cold to enforce security arrangements on new year's eve.All senior police officers were also on vigil in their respective areas on December 31 night.The Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Thursday ordered the imposition of the night curfew in the national capital on December 31 and January 1 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. The decision has been taken to contain the spread of the coronavirus spread.
