Prime Minister Narendra Modi lightning up a lamp

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led people on Sunday during the '9 pm, 9 minute' 'Mini Diwali' as he shared his photographs showing himself lighting up diyas.

PM Modi joined the nation in the 9 minutes 'mini diwali' initiative after his appeal in the address to the nation.

The Prime Minister also shared a shloka on his Twitter handle: "शुभं करोति कल्याणमारोग्यं धनसंपदा । शत्रुबुद्धिविनाशाय दीपज्योतिर्नमोऽस्तुते ॥".

This is a sanskrti couplet which means salutations to the lights which bring fortune, health and prosperity and destroys prenicious feelings.

After his appeal to switch off the lights and lighting candles and diyas for 9 minutes at 9 pm, the whole nation came out in full support of this initiative.

Union Home Mnister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also became a part of this 9 minutes light off initiative.
