Sonia, Rahul condole death of Hans Raj Bharadwaj Last Updated : 09 Mar 2020 01:33:57 PM IST Former Law Minister and senior party leader Hans Raj Bharadwaj (file photo) Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi and former party President Rahul Gandhi on Monday condoled the death of former Law Minister and senior party leader Hans Raj Bharadwaj.
Bhardwaj passed away on Sunday evening at hospital here at an age of 82.Remembering his long years of service as parliamentarian and Law Minister, Sonia Gandhi extended her heartfelt condolences to the family and friends."May his soul rest in peace," she said.Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter and wrote, "I'm sorry to hear about the passing of former Governor and Law Minister, Hans Raj Bhardwaj. His long years of dedicated service to the Congress party will always be remembered. My condolences to his friends and family at this time of grief. Bharadwaj died of a cardiac arrest at Max Hospital where he was admitted last week.Serving as Minister in the governments of Rajiv Gandhi, P.V. Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh, he was Governor of Karnataka from 2009 to 2014, during which he was involved in various controversies.
