Security forces launches operation in J&K Last Updated : 09 Oct 2017 02:34:15 PM IST (File photo) Separatist guerrillas on Monday gunned down an Army officer in Jammu and Kashmir's Badgam district, police sources said.
Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Raj Kumar was killed in Drung village when security forces launched an operation shortly after Sunday midnight, the sources said.
"As the cordon was being tightened, the hidden militants opened fire injuring Raj Kumar who later succumbed to his injuries," an officer said.
Defence Ministry sources, however, said that the JCO died in a gun battle.
