Hundred and thousand of people thronged Lord Shiva temples to celebrated Sawan Shivratri on Friday. Serpentine queues of men and women were seen outside Lord Shiva temples.
The devotees offered milk, honey and more at the shrines. The celebrations will continue through the day and, in many temples, all through the night.
The entire Shravana month is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Sawan Shivratri marks the union of Shakti and Lord Shiva.
Devotees observe a fast and perform pujas on every Monday of each week in the Shravana month which is also known as 'Shravan Somvar'.Shiva linga is worshiped and a special Maha Rudrabhishek Puja is organised during this month.
