Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) threatened on Thursday to attack Indian targets to avenge the country’s execution of Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, the lone survivor of the militant squad responsible for a rampage through Mumbai that killed 166 people in 2008.
While on Wednesday, an unnamed LeT commander was quoted by media as saying that the group regarded Kasab as a hero who would inspire more terror attacks.
Militant groups in Pakistan and the residents of Kasab's home village of faridkot has reacted furiously after the execution.
Ihsan was quoted by the Pakistani media yesterday as saying that the Taliban were shocked by Kasab's hanging.
The Lashar-e-Toiba terrorist was hanged till death on Wednesday in Pune's Yerwada Jail, for killing 166 people in 2008 Mumbai terror attack.
While demanding Kasab's body from India ,Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said "We have decided to target Indians to avenge the killing of Ajmal Kasab," Ehsanullah Ehsan telephoned from an undisclosed location.
Ehsan demanded that India return Kasab's body.
"If they don't return his body to us or his family we will capture Indians and will not return their bodies," he said, adding that the Taliban will try to strike Indian targets "anywhere".
After nearly four years, Ajmal Kasab, the sole surviving Pakistani gunman involved in the Mumbai attacks, was hanged to death at the Yerawada central prison in a top-secret operation.Kasab was buried inside the premises of Pune's Yerawada Central Jail shortly after he was hanged.
Kasab was charged with 86 offences, including murder and waging war against the Indian state, in a charge-sheet running to more than 11,000 pages. It was the first time a capital sentence had been carried out in India since 2004.
Pakistan reacts cautiously
The Pakistan government reacted cautiously to the hanging, with the Foreign Office spokesman saying Islamabad was against all forms of terrorism and would cooperate with countries in the region to tackle the menace.
Kasab was the only surviving member of a 10-member team of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists who killed 166 people during a three-day rampage in Mumbai nearly four years ago.
Diplomatic sources said security measures at the Indian High Commission, which are already very extensive, had been
further tightened after the Taliban threat.

Indian diplomats faced threats in 2012
Indian diplomats in Pakistan have faced threats in the past too. In 2010, two deserters from a paramilitary force arrested for terror links had revealed that militants aligned with the Pakistani Taliban had plans to abduct Indian diplomats and target foreign missions.
The men had revealed that militant groups had plans to kidnap Indian diplomats, including the High Commissioner, to exchange them for militant commanders being held by Pakistani authorities.
At that time too, security had been tightened for Indian diplomats and their families.
