India vs Pakistan Live Score 3rd ODI: India all out for 167 Last Updated : 06 Jan 2013 03:57:54 PM IST India vs Pakistan Live Score 3rd ODI: India must win this match
India were all out for 167 in 43.4 overs in the third and final cricket one-dayer against Pakistan at Firozshah Kotla ground in the national capital on Sunday .
Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan had ripped through the top order, India were tormented by the mesmerising spin of Saeed Ajmal who finished with a rich haul of 5 for 24.
So pathetic was India's batting that they could not even last the full 50 overs after electing to bat. They were bundled out in 43.4 overs as Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal recorded a career-best performance of five for 24.
If India fail to defend the total, they would suffer their first series whitewash in 29 years. The last time India suffered the ignominy was at home in 1983 when the West Indies had routed the then world champion 5-0.
India's top-order collapsed again in the face of some fiery bowling by the Pakistani pacers -- Junaid Khan and Mohammad Irfan -- at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground. Pakistan bowled as a unit -- the fast bowlers provided a start and the spinners carried on with the good work.
India owed their partial recovery to a sensible partnership between skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (36) and Suresh Raina (31). They joined forces when the team was stuttering at 63 for four and their 48-run stand for the fifth wicket repaired the flagging innings to some extent. They batted cautiously, looking for singles and punishing the bad balls.
Raina was timing the ball well, driving and lofting confidently. The diminutive left-hander hit an elegant six off Mohammed Hafeez over long-on and Dhoni, too, later hit the same bowler for two consecutive sixes.
However, Ajmal broke the stand by trapping Raina before also scalping R Ashwin in the next ball, which brought Ravindra Jadeja to the crease.
Dhoni dispatched Hafeez for another six over mid-wicket boundary before being dropped by the same the bowler in his follow through later on. Dhoni smashed one hard, which Hafeez tried to latch on to but only ended up hurting his left hand.Dhoni was batting on 29 at the time.
India's top order caved in meekly yet again though it was Hafeez who took the big wicket of Yuvraj with a turner.India dropped Sehwag and Dinda for this match and given chance to Ajinkya Rahane and Shami Ahmed.
Today is the most important and intersting match between arch-rivals as Pakistan have taken 2-0 lead in three-match ODI series India`s struggling cricketers will seek to restore some pride .
Indian skipper MS Dhoni has received much of the criticism in this series .
The pitch condition is very important role in deciding the result of the match.
Kotla's record is 'Bat' first
Going by the Kotla’s previous record, toss will play a crucial role 'win the toss and bat' is usually the advice handed out to every skipper.. Sehwag is playing on his favorite ground and it is estimated that he will play well on this ground.
Indian team will have to devise a strategy to counter Pakistan players in both batting and bowling and to win this match .Pakistan won the first two one day matches and is eager to clean sweep the series.
The high pressure has been built on the Indians who have been plagued by an inexplicable form slump of their star batsmen while the limited and inexperienced bowling resources have compounded the misery for the hosts who have now sunk to a new low with the recent debacles.
Most of the Team India players are not in form. The bilateral series with Pakistan is being played after five years.
The hosts lost the first game in Chennai by six wickets and the second in Kolkata by 85 runs to give their arch foes their first series win on Indian soil since 2004-05.
Pakistan won 2nd One Day International game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata because Pakistan have never lost a match at Eden gardens to the hosts except once to a foreign team.
India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (c), Gautam Gambhir, Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Shami Ahmed.
Pakistan: Misbah-ul-Haq (c), Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Hafeez, Younis Khan, Shoaib Malik, Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal,Junaid Khan, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Mohammad Irfan.
The five ODI series with England is going to begin in a few day and the selectors are going to observe the performance of each individual player and select the squad for the upcoming series. There is every chance that one or two players will be dropped from the Indian team for the upcoming England series. The third ODI will be very crucial for Sehwag, Rohit, Raina and Jadeja.
