PICS : THE FINEST HOURS OF INDIAN CRICKET OVER THE YEARS

The year was 1983 when India believed that they can play ODI cricket. In a tournament nobody gave them a chance, India led by inspirational young 24-year-old skipper Kapil Dev stunned the two time defending champions led by Clive Lloyd's West Indies by 43 runs in the final. India's historic win at Lords was an inspiration and gave the Indian teams in the years to follow the self-belief that they can take on the world and also dominate . Cricket in India became a religion and the players demi-gods thanks to the 1983 World Cup victory. The 985 world championships cricket win in Australia in 1985 and Rothmans cup in 1986 proved that India’s 1983 win was no fluke. India had truly arrived in world cricket.
