Friendship Day, the day when people spend time with their friends and express love for them, began in US in 1935. Gradually the festival gained popularity and today Friendship Day is celebrated in large number of countries including India. This year Friendship Day will be celebrated on August 3. Every year, Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August. The idea of a World Friendship Day was first proposed on July 20, 1958 by Dr. Artemio Bracho during a dinner with friends in Puerto Pinasco, Paraguay.
