Devotees offer 'arghya' to the rising sun

The four-day-long Chhath festival came to an end on Wednesday morning with devotees offering 'arghya' to the rising sun at the bank of Ganga and other places amid tight security. Braving the morning chill, lakhs of devotees congregated at various ghats to offer prayers to the Sun God during the Chhath festival. Devotees thronged the ghats carrying wooden baskets and took their usual place there before the 'Vratis' (persons fasting to offer 'Arghya' to the Sun God) descended in the water upto waist level and stood there.
