Bihar :Rabri says Will run RJD like Sonia Gandhi runs Congress Last Updated : 06 Oct 2013 02:05:13 PM IST Will run RJD like Sonia Gandhi runs Congress: Rabri
Taking the guidance of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Lalu's wife Rabri Devi said that she will run the party along with her son just like the Congress is being controlled by Rajiv Gandhi's wife .
"I will run the party with the help of my son, the way the Congress party is run by Sonia-Rahul," former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi said.
RJD meet: Who will lead the party in 2014 Lok Sabha elections
While, the RJD is having a meet of its office bearers on Sunday in Patna to decide who will lead the party in 2014 Lok sabha elections.
Tejaswi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav are already RJD members but if sources are to be believed RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Misa is all set to join the party.
Now it will be seen very curiously what will be the role and position of top senior party leaders like Raghuvansh , Siddiqui and Ramkripal under Rabri Devi to take important decisions. Will these top leaders serve under the two young sons of lalu and his wife .Tejaswi and his brother Tej Pratap will be part of the proposed collegium.
Changing political equations in Bihar
Lalu's five year jail term carries political implications for Bihar in the 2014 Lok sabha elections as now Congress will open the doors wide for JD(U) and it is likely to be announced post elections
Considering that Nitish severed its 17 year old ties with BJP just because BJP projected Narendra modi as its prime ministerial candidate there is a real possibility now of the Muslim vote in Bihar consolidating behind Nitish Kumar even as efforts to win over more sections of the backward vote yields dividends.
As Lalu has been sentenced to five years for his role in a 17-year-old fodder scam case , political equations in Bihar has changed and consequently will dramatically change the political picture of the national politics.
Chances of Lalu contesting the next Parliamentary election is completely ruled out, the immediate challenge before the RJD would be to find a solution to the leadership crisis. He has to wait at least six years after completing his sentence to contest, which would mean a severe blow for his RJD.
The main issue is how RJD’s existential crisis will play out in the 2014 Parliamentary elections as also in the Bihar Assembly where political equations has changed .
In Lalu's absence, the party has very little in terms of charismatic and prominent leaders. The RJD's fortunes have been dwindling since it lost power in Bihar.
After the withdrawal of the ordinance, it is very clear that Congress under Rahul Gandhi’s command would not align with RJD. Bihar chief minister and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar has moved closer to Congress. Nitish even supported Rahul’s description of the ordinance as “nonsense”, even if it diminished the PM’s position.
BJP spokesperson Rajiv Paratap Rudy said , “The BJP will win all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in the state.” Rudy lost to Lalu in the Chhapra constituency in the 2009 election. And he is also confident that the BJP will do extremely well in the 2015 assembly elections.
Another major factor in Bihar politics is Nitish ,the Congress-JD(U) may not have a pre-poll alliance but it is certain that they will have an understanding in the changing equations at the national level.
Lalu has been sentenced to five years for his role in a 17-year-old fodder scam case by a special Central Bureau of estigation (CBI) court in Ranchi.
And Lalu Prasad would continue to remain our president and will decide from his jail
Lalu's wife and former CM Rabri Devi commented, "Laluji is our hero and will remain a hero. He will continue the run the party."
