Bodhgaya serial blasts : Bihar Government ignored IB warning Last Updated : 07 Jul 2013 02:08:35 PM IST Bodh Gaya serial blasts : Bihar Govt ignored IB warning
A team of Delhi Police is likely to visit Bihar's Bodh Gaya town to share information provided by the Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists who had earlier planned an attack on the temple, police said on Sunday.
The question arises when the Intelligence Bureau had already issued alert regarding threat to Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya than why the Bihar government did not paid heed to it .
This is the first terror attack in Bihar and how is it possible that a terrorist became successful in planting a bomb inside the temple premises when according to the Bihar government security was hightened after the intelligence warning .
After nine blasts rocked the Mahabodhi temple complex at Bodhgaya, Intelligence agencies are conducting raids in various hotels in Nawada, jamui, Shekhupura ,Aurangbad ,jehanabad ie in and around Gaya.
Intelligence reports suggested that two terrorists had sneaked into Bihar last month and central forces were deployed for security .
As Indian Mujahideen module busted by the Delhi special team in August 2012 had planned to attack the Bodhgaya Temple in Bihar. and Delhi police informed Bihar Police and asked them to step up security in the temple premises.Riyaz Bhatkal located in Karachi in Pakistan consulted the terror attack with Yasin Bhatkal, The reason cited by the Bhatkal was that Bodhgaya terror attack is to take revenge of the atrocities being conducted on minorities in Myanmar.
German bakery blast accused had confessed during interrogation that a recce was done in Bodhgaya, said BJP spokerman Ravi Shankar prasad.
Bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar has arrivd in Bodhgaya .
But Preliminary investigations shows that the motive was more to scare than cause destruction as the timing of the blasts was so selected when thre are less number of people in the temple .
Security alert sounded at Indo-Nepal border
An alert was today sounded on the Indo-Nepal border after nine serial explosions rocked the internationally renowned temple town of Bodh Gaya in Bihar.
District Magistrate K V Pandiyan said police and SSB have been alerted after the terror attack and they have been asked to maintain a vigil on the border.
He said security has been increased in famous Devipatan and other temples.Nine serial blasts took place inside and outside the
Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya early this morning in which two monks were injured.
Similar threats were issued in 2012
In 2012 similar threat was issued and CCTV cameras in and around the temple were installed but how is it possible that bombs were planted inside and outside the temple premises .
Police sources claimed that the state government and district authorities had beefed up security measures following the warning.
If CCTV cameras are installed than national investigative agency NIA will be able to get enough evidence .
The Mahabodhi Temple is one of the 84,000 shrines erected by King Asoka the Great in the 3rd century B.C.
A control room should be set up at the Bodh Gaya police station located adjacent to the Mahabodhi temple to monitor activities and movement of people under the coverage area.
The National Investigation Agency is investigating the blst site
While four serial blasts took place inside the Mahabodhi Temple complex at about 5:40 am, three blast took place at the Terega Monastery. The eight blast took place near the famous 80-foot statue of Lord Buddha.
DIG Nayyar Husnain Khan said, "The sanctum sanctorum of the Mahabodhi Temple is intact. The identity of the injured monks is yet to be ascertained.
India continues to be one of the most persistently targeted countries by transnational terrorist groups like Lashkar e Taiba and other terrorists groups.
BJP attacks Bihar Govt
The Bharatiya Janata Party attacked the government over the security lapse in Bodhgaya in the backdrop of the bomb blasts at the Mahabodhi Temple in which five people are injured.
"If this is a result of issue in Myanmar, it is a new front of terrorism," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javedkar said.
The BJP also appealed the Central as well as the state government to investigate the matter seriously. "This is extremely unfortunate, we condemn it. We appeal the Central and Bihar government to investigate this matter seriously," he said.
