L K Advani's birthday: Nitin Gadkari seeks blessings Last Updated : 08 Nov 2012 01:25:45 PM IST Gadkari seeks Advani’s blessings
Gadkari visited Advani in the morning of Thursday and touched his feet. The meeting between the duo lasted for about 15 minutes. What transpired between the two is not clear yet, though Advani has repeatedly kept himself away from the meetings in the wake of controversy surrounding Gadkari.
Gadkari who is facing host of charges for alleged fake investments in Poorti Industries has been planning to meet Advani for quite sometimes. Advani who set the example of resigning after his name cropped up in Hawala scam, is believed to favour resignation path for Gadkari till his name is cleared by the court.
A vast section of BJP leaders believe that Gadkari is innocent but yet want him to resign till investigation is pending against him. It would help the party take on Congress in a big way during the general elections scheduled for 2014.
Advani, meanwhile has postponed his birthday celebrations to November 21, a day before the winter session starts. “Kamala, my wife’s birth day falls on 27th November and my daughter Pratibha wants to combine the two celebrations together on 21st”, Advani said to media at his home in Delhi.
Advani is turning 85 on Thursday.
"I have no regrets on not becoming the Prime Minister of the country as I feel the nation is more important than anything", Advani said on this ocassion. He said that he is a sasified man today and thanked his party BJP for giving him so much in life.
Congress leader Digvijay Singh has tweeted happy bithday to Advani.
