At least 31 people were killed and more than 100 injured when two trains derailed within minutes of each other while crossing a partially flooded bridge near Harda in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday night. The Kamayani Express, headed for Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh from Mumbai, derailed near Harda town, 160 km south of Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, shortly before midnight. Bodies of 28 passengers have been recovered from two express trains that derailed near Harda in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday night. Over 300 passengers have been rescued, said government .The ministry of railways has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to those who are grievously injured. Railway Board Chairman AK Mittal: "The incident happened at 11.30 pm on Tuesday night. Nine minutes prior to the incident, two trains both up and down crossed the same track. The tracks were fine, there was flash flood after the earlier trains passed which led to the derailment as the tracks damaged.
