All set for fifth phase of polls

This is the fifth phase of elections and crosses the half-way mark of the nine-phase exercise. Elections for the fifth phase came to an end on Tuesday, April 15. Polling will take place in 28 seats in Karnataka, followed by Rajasthan (20), Maharashtra (19), Uttar Pradesh and Odisha (11 each), Madhya Pradesh (10), Bihar (7), Jharkhand (6), West Bengal (4), Chhattisgarh (3), Jammu and Kashmir and Manipur (1 each). Altogether 1,769 candidates figure in the fifth phase. Brief state-wise description of most states going to polls is given ahead.
